Auchterarder...

Just arrived in Auchterarder. The last member of my family to be here was my Grandad, who played clarinet for Orlando and his Gleneagles Orchestra in the 30s. He .was a migrant who died of TB below the age of 40. The thought rushed into my mind that we are all only a couple of generations away from the problems people in developing countries face right now. My musings on this were inerrupted by a call from the World Development Movement, whose Brighton branch has occupied a crane in Edinburgh with a flag saying "Stop the Brownwash". This in response to a Guardian article critical of Gordon Brown on debt, which was splashed prominently on page 296.
